Groendyke Transport finished second in its mileage class of the National Tank Truck Carriers (NTTC) North American Safety Contest.
Groendyke received the Honor Award for Class 2, finishing just behind Grand Award winner Western Dairy Transport.
Why it matters: The NTTC North American Safety Contest is the flagship competition for safety in the tank truck industry.
What's next: The Grand Award winner in each mileage class moves on to the second round to compete for the coveted NTTC North American Safety Champion Award, also known as the Heil Trophy.
This year’s Honor Award comes on the heels of Groendyke winning its record ninth Heil Trophy in 2024 for safety efforts in 2023.
What they're saying: “Our goal every year is to compete for the Heil Trophy,” said Groendyke CEO Greg Hodgen. “Whether we win or not, being in the running validates our efforts to keep our employees, the motoring public, and the environment safe. It’s the high calling of the tank truck industry, and every NTTC member company takes it very seriously. I couldn’t be more proud of our people for the sustained effort and commitment to safety they’ve shown over the past two years.”

About NTTC: NTTC is a trade association composed of over 600 companies that specialize in bulk transportation services by cargo tank throughout North America. The tank truck industry generates about 6% of all truck freight revenue, but that represents nearly 30% of all truck freight in terms of tonnage due to the heavy nature of the liquid bulk products handled.
