James Starr Wins Inaugural National Tank Truck Carriers Professional Driver of the Year

ENID, OK (On April 28, 2014) James Starr was named the first National Tank Truck Carriers (NTTC) Professional Tank Truck Driver of the Year and received the William A. Usher, Sr. trophy. Evidence that,  in its 82nd year, Groendyke Transport continues to set the standard for safety and excellence in the transportation industry.

Starr, a 42 year trucking veteran accepted the award at NTTC’s 66th Annual Conference in Las Vegas, NV. Starr was one of 8 finalists chosen for the inaugural award. Finalists were selected based on accident-free miles, industry and company leadership, communication and public speaking ability, and industry knowledge. Starr is a petroleum and chemical driver for the Company’s Wichita terminal, and has accumulated an astonishing 3.5+ million accident-free miles, all during his 29 years with Groendyke Transport. He serves as a certified driving instructor, and in that capacity he devotes his time and himself to mentor trainees on the culture of safety, the moral obligation, and the best defensive strategies on the road.
